Free-Rider
Due to a rising number of cars in Beijing, (60 thousand per month in 2010), the Government has begun to encourage people onto public transport. However, the problem still remains. Firstly was that cars reflect upon a person’s status, in China, this is very important. Another big problem is that the position of the subway stations is very inconvenient for a lot of people and the subway is so busy that it is impossible to find a seat.
It is important to make biking a new trend. So, I made the design of the bike fashionable and cool, to give people pride in their bike, not shame to ride a bike.
The second issue about convenience is answered through the design. Firstly the handlebars are designed so they can rotate to form a seat. The design is easy to fold, making it convenient to carry. Finally, the “free rider” can be charged by movement or at charging points in the subway, meaning the bike always has power, making their journey less tiring.
