Vertical and Horizontal

The project’s start point was the image of a raindrop and the revealing of the principle of natural beauty. The concept came from the artwork of Piet Mondrian. We looked at his uses of horizontal and vertical lines to understand the world and developed our own understanding of his works, rather than just copy his technique.

Our own understanding of the principle of natural beauty:

1. Vertical meets horizontal.
2. New relationships are formed.
3. Vertical and horizontal mix together to reach a new balance.
4. Original space is broken, new order comes.
5. Blank space means unity of all.
